Lorraine Ross, 92, of Lima, passed from this temporary life into her eternal life at 9:45 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, at Lost Creek Care Center. She was born Feb. 7, 1924 on Wiley Branch located in Johnson County, KY to Frank and Elizabeth "Lizzie" (Vanhoose) Brown who preceded her in death. In approximately 1944, she relocated to Springfield, OH then in December, 1961 to Lima, OH. On May 13, 1961, she married Denzel Ross who preceded her in death on Jan. 18, 2012. Their marriage was full of love and kindness, built on a solid rock! A shining beacon to their family. "Home" was never "home" to her after his passing and said almost daily, "I want to go home." God has answered her request.
Lorraine leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughter Brenda and son-in-law James K. Webb of Lima; son-in-law William "Bill" Wolford of Lima, who is the husband of her beloved daughter Joyce Ann who preceded her in death on Sept. 20, 2011. She also leaves: six grandchildren: Gina (Tim) Haller of Lima, Dana (Audrea) Webb of Spring Hill, TN, Lora (Jim) Loughrin of Lima, James (Trisha) Webb, Jr., of Baghdad/Troy, OH, Amy (Matt) Cunningham of Lima and Wendy Wolford of Lima; fifteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Carlene Brown of Lexington, OH, wife of Lorraine's deceased brother Russell Brown.
Her siblings also precede her in death: Frank "Hylo" Brown, Marvin Brown, Marshall Brown and Flora Bailey. She leaves many nieces and nephews to cherish their Aunt Lorraine, and countless host of friends, acquaintances and caregivers. A special thank you to Lost Creek Care Center's staff and residents for their love and devotion, not only to Lorraine, but also to her family.
Lorraine was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend. She enjoyed and was known for her cooking! She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, quilting and her flowers. She was a volunteer in the Lima Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Program.
In 1962, Lorraine personally accepted Jesus into her heart at High Street Free Will Baptist Church leading her daughters Joyce and Brenda and husband Denzel to also accept Him as their Savior. She was actively involved in various ministries of High Street. In the years to follow at the same church, her sons-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandchildren would also make their personal decision to follow Christ. When her first great-great-granddaughter was born, the fifth generation, she was dedicated to the Lord in a baby dedication service at the church. In later years she became an active member of the Lima Baptist Temple where she was involved in various ministries of the church. WHAT A LEGACY!
Her funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016, at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home, with her sons-in-law, Pastor James Webb will officiate, assisted by Rev. William Wolford. Entombment will follow in Memorial Park Mausoleum. Friends and family may call from 3-8 p.m., on Monday, Nov. 28, 2016 at the funeral home and one hour prior to her service on Tuesday.
