Amos Johnson departed this world on June 17, 2017, in Columbus, Ohio, at approximately 6:30 a.m. Amos was born June 11, 1932, in Florence, Alabama to his parents Frank and Mattie (Ridley) Johnson both whom are deceased. Amos moved to Lima, OH in the early 50's and worked several jobs before he started working for General Motors of Defiance where he worked for 25 years. He was previously married to Lula B Clay who survives. He was a member of United Auto Workers. He was a member of St Luke COGIC. He loved attending church...

Amos Johnson departed this world on June 17, 2017, in Columbus, Ohio, at approximately 6:30 a.m. Amos was born June 11, 1932, in Florence, Alabama to his parents Frank and Mattie (Ridley) Johnson both whom are deceased. Amos moved to Lima, OH in the early 50's and worked several jobs before he started working for General Motors of Defiance where he worked for 25 years. He was previously married to Lula B Clay who survives. He was a member of United Auto Workers. He was a member of St Luke COGIC. He loved attending church and singing his favorite song, "Time is Winding Up".
His love was pure and unfiltered and he never met a stranger. His love for his for children, grandchildren and entire family was shown not just spoken. He helped many people in his Lifetime. He will truly be missed.
He leaves to cherish his son Curtis R Johnson (Joyce) of Pickerington, OH; 5 Daughters: Mary Johnson, Carolyn Jackson and YuShanna Wright all of Lima, OH, Alice Jones of Milwaukee WI and Teresa Ward (Rodney) of Rochester Hills, MI; 3 stepchildren: Johnny Morris and Essie Morris both of Lima and Dwayne Spears of Columbus, Ohio; 25 grandchildren: Shaneka Johnson, Tara Johnson Jackson, Damon Johnson, Irving Johnson (Nicole), Fernando Johnson; grandchildren he helped raise: Amos Keith Johnson, Jr., Keisha Johnson, Jessanyme Johnson, Toya Jones, Toni Jones, Kourtney Johnson, Tory Johnson, Sr., Denisha Jackson, Craig Robertson, Corte Robertson, Darrell Wright, Articia Wright, Arthur Wright, III, Calvin Pryor, Brenda Morris, Charlene Hilbert, Ebony Hobbs, Devin Jones, Jessica Mourning, Lynnette Jones; 50 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; 3 brothers: Ananias Johnson (Annie deceased), Charles Carroll (Teresa) of Florence, AL; Odell Dollerson (Lillian) of Chicago, IL., Jesse James Dollerson (Tommy May) of Montgomery, AL; 3 sisters: Martha Stewart of Lima, OH, Annie Ruth Bell of Montgomery, AL, Martha Vaughan of Florence, AL; brother-in-law Charlie Clemons of Florence, AL and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in his death by his son, Amos Keith Johnson; Granddaughter, Shalonda Nashae' Cooper; Paternal Grandparents Tom Johnson and Augusta (Foster) Johnson of Florence Alabama; Maternal Grandparents Dan Ridley and Lucille (Irons) Ridley Florence, AL; Brothers Harry Johnson, Cecil Johnson (Maxine), David Dollerson; Sisters: Willa Johnson, Mary Johnson (Gust), Mattie Eurene Clemons, Amy Tisdale (Roosevelt) his twin and Bashee Rowell; Special nephew Frank Rowell; Special nieces: Mary Elizabeth Johnson Winborn and Mattie Clemons Vaughn.
Memorial Services were held on June 24, in Lima, Ohio.
A graveside service will be held at Noon on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at Allentown Cemetery with burial to follow.
